Ajuga Bugleweed Ajuga Reptans is herbaceous perennial native to Europe, northern Africa, southwestern Asia. Commonly called Carpet Bugleweed and Common Bugle is a low growing, evergreen perennial plant that forms a dense, mat-like groundcover, and the foliage is so dense that weeds he almost no chance of germinating. Ajuga Bugleweed seeds can be started indoors or directly outdoors. Carpet Bugleweed blooms with spikes of tiny, blue-violet flowers in spring and summer and its very attractive foliage features basal oblong or spoon shaped lees which are dark green in color, but during the wintertime, the lees develop rich bronze and burgundy tones. The large clumps of blooming Bugleweed produce a striking display and attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.
