35 Dale Street was designed by J.W. Beaumont, a fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects whose portfolio includes Whitworth Art Gallery and numerous textile warehouses that today characterise much of Manchester鈥檚 city centre.
Specifically built as Head Office and distribution warehouse for the expanding textile company, Richard Howarth & Co, the combination of formal and practical features still present in 35 Dale Street are a nod to its original purpose. The entrance and first floor, designed to house the Company Owner鈥檚 office and receive customers, feature grand front doors, decorative tiling and ornate fixtures and fittings; while the open plans of the remaining floors typify the need for maximum light provision for packing and loading goods.
The transformation of 35 Dale Street has provided Grade A offices behind a stunning Grade II Listed fa莽ade, creating inspiring workspace while retaining the building鈥檚 heritage.
