Microsoft Teams activity feed is not just a chat notification aggregator, it combines notifications from your chats and from applications you are using in Teams.
To help filtering between notification you he read and the ones you he missed, Microsoft Teams is now adding a toggle that will show you the unread activities in just one click.

This feature will start to rollout during September 2022 and is expected to be globally ailable in late November.
To filter your unread activities, do the following:
Click in the Activity option in the personal bar Use the toggle, Unread Only
All your unread activities will appear filtered and ordered by date in the activity pane, if you don’t he any unread message, you will see a message saying You’re all caught up!
If you want to keep an activity in the unread section to take care of it later after reading it, do the following:
Toggle off the Unread only Click in the … (3 dots) visible on mouse hover From the menu click on Mark as unread
This new feature will help you to better manage your activities in Microsoft Teams and will help you to not loose mentions, replies or application notification because they got lost in the scrolling of the daily activity notifications.
