There are few ways to get the new Outlook for Windows app.
Option 1 Turn on Try the new Outlook聽toggle in your current Outlook app. This option is ailable with desktop version of Outlook for Microsoft 365, and with the Mail and Calendar app on Windows devices.
Option 2 Download new Outlook from the Microsoft Store.
Option 3 Use the pre-installed version of new聽Outlook on new devices running Windows 11 PC聽version 23H2, or when you upgrade to Windows 11 version 23H2 or later.
If your account wasn't聽added automatically after downloading new Outlook,聽add it manually.
Select an option to start using new Outlook Option 1 - Turn on Try the new OutlookNote:聽If you're an admin and want to turn this feature off in your organization, see the section below Information for IT admins.
If you're using the Outlook app (Version 2303 Build 16227.20318)聽installed as part of your Microsoft 365 subscription, or聽the Mail and Calendar apps included with your Windows 10 or 11 device, you may see the toggle Try the new Outlook in the upper right-hand corner of the app.
Turn on the toggle and set up your account
Turn on the toggle聽Try the new Outlook. New Outlook聽will begin downloading.
From the Success window, select Switch. This will close the current version of Outlook and聽New Outlook will sign you in automatically. Select Next to accept the privacy settings.
Select an option about sending聽optional data, and then select Accept. Review the privacy information about connected experiences, and then select Continue.聽
Select聽Import Settings to bring over your settings from classic Outlook.聽New Outlook聽will begin adding your accounts.
Tip:聽Most accounts are supported in new Outlook. This includes聽Microsoft accounts such as an Outlook.com or Hotmail.com account, work or school accounts assigned to you by your organization鈥檚 admin, third-party accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo!, iCloud, and other third-party accounts connecting through IMAP.
The new Outlook聽for Windows will open once the setup is complete, and you can start reading and sending emails immediately.
Option 2 - Download new Outlook from the Microsoft StoreYou won鈥檛 see a toggle to Try the new Outlook if you鈥檙e using the Outlook desktop app included with a non-subscription version of Office such as Office Home & Business, or if you聽access your email from a website like聽outlook.com or gmail.com.
However, if you're running a supported version of Windows, you can do the following to install new Outlookfrom the Microsoft Store.
Download new Outlook from the Microsoft StoreNote:聽To download new Outlook, you must be running Windows 10 version 17763.0 or later.
Open the Microsoft Store on Windows app.
Get new Outlook
Select Get. New Outlook will begin downloading.
When the download is finished, select Open.
If your accounts aren't added automatically, follow the prompts to add your聽account and start using new Outlook.
Option 3 - Update to Windows 11, version 23H2 when ailableIn October 2023, Windows 11聽version 23H2 will be ailable.聽
The new Outlook for Windows will be pre-installed on new Windows devices and devices running聽Windows 11 version 23H2. If you're new to Windows 11 SV2 and above, you'll聽see new Outlook pinned to the Start menu starting September 2023.聽
After October, anyone upgrading to Windows 11 23H2 from Windows 11 SV1 or Windows 10聽will also find the app installed in the All apps list. If you don't see the app聽installed, follow the steps in Option 2 to install聽new Outlook聽directly from the Microsoft Store.
Add an account to new OutlookIf your account wasn't added聽automatically, or you hen't added an account yet, follow the steps in聽Add an email account to Outlook for Windows.
Tip:聽Most accounts are supported in new Outlook. This includes聽Microsoft accounts such as an Outlook.com or Hotmail.com account, work or school accounts assigned to you by your organization鈥檚 admin, third-party accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo!, iCloud, and other third-party accounts connecting through IMAP
Information for IT Admins onlyIf you're an admin and want to turn this feature off in the Outlook desktop app for your organization, see聽Enable or disable employee access to the new Outlook for Windows.
With Windows Mail, Calendar, and People聽it's not possible to turn the Try new Outlook feature off in those apps. We recommend you remove the聽apps from devices in your organization聽to prevent聽users聽from downloading聽new Outlook聽via those apps.
