History was made in more ways than one during the 97th annual Academy Awards last night. Zoe Saldaña became the first Dominican American actor to win an Oscar, Gints Zilbalodis’ Flow is Latvia’s first ever Academy Award-winning movie, Wicked’s Paul Tazewell became the first Black man to win Best Costume Design, and Sean Baker is now the first person to win four Oscars for the same film in the same year. All eyes were on his movie Anora, which won five Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Directing, and Best Actress in a Leading Role for Mikey Madison.
