Christopher D. Kastner president and CEO of HII, a global engineering and defense technologies provider. He is also a member of HII鈥檚 Board of Directors.
Kastner was named to the position, starting in March 2022. He previous served as HII鈥檚 chief operating officer where he oversaw HII鈥檚 three operating divisions and worked closely with the division presidents to drive execution on HII鈥檚 historic backlog. Prior to that, he HII鈥檚 executive vice president and chief financial officer since March 2016.
As CFO, Kastner was responsible for directing HII Corporate Strategy and processes in support of business growth and profitability goals. He was also responsible for corporate business management functions, including investor relations, treasury, internal audit, contracts, accounting, financial reporting, planning and analysis, rates and budgets, and mergers and acquisition. He also provided oversight for segment business management, contracts, and estimating and pricing.
Kastner has also served as vice president and CFO for HII鈥檚 Ingalls Shipbuilding division, as vice president, business management, and CFO for Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding-Gulf Coast, and as vice president, contracts and risk management, for Northrop Grumman Ship Systems. Most recently, he served as HII鈥檚 corporate vice president and general manager, corporate development, and was responsible for strategy and development activities, including the development and integration of strategic planning efforts as well as the analysis and entrance into new adjacent markets.
Kastner has a bachelor鈥檚 degree in political science from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA from Pepperdine University. He is on the board of directors for WHRO, the only public broadcasting station in the United States owned by a collaboration of 19 local public school districts, and on the board of trustees for Eastern Virginia Medical School.
