Yeah, I he seen TV app failure happen or no app support on a lot of friends Smart TVs now over time. Some of the hardware behind Smart-TV's is so basic that its little different than the PC motherboard bios that comes with an embedded mini-operating system complete with a web-browser.So it might be useful for basic tasks but sooner or later you are going to want/need something more powerful.
I just use the Chrome or MS Edge web browser via a Windows 10 PC connected to my 65" TV with a wireless "Air Mouse".Almost all the streaming sites he excellent web browser support that often works better than the apps.
It's still probably more for the "power user", but I think its the future.
"Foxtel Now" looks exactly like IQ3 box but in the browser.Netflix has 4k with HDR support in the web browser https://www.theverge.com/2017/12/21/16804960/netflix-windows-10-hdr-supportI also he Stan which I use in the browser which works great..
Frankly, I think "app" support will be a problem forever on smart TVs because there are just too many different yet modded Android-based devices to support properly.
For example, I he a premium model major brand Lenovo Yoga tablet I bought from JBHIFI and it even struggles with some particular apps, some apps crash with a messaging say something like "no optimal support for your device".
