Neil Diamond has made his triumphant return to performing seven years after he retired from touring following a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis. The 84-year-old was spotted giving a rendition of his mega hit Sweet Caroline from the audience of A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical, which he attended last weekend.
Neil was seen in attendance via a touching Instagram video, introduced by the musical’s lead actor Nick Fradiani. As Neil began to sing the familiar lines, the whole theatre joined in, including Neil’s wife Katie McNeil, who stood beside him. Rocking a blue jumper and baseball cap, Neil made a true return to form as he clutched the microphone in one hand at Los Angeles’ Pantages Theatre.

Nick gushed over Neil’s attendance on social media, writing: “I built up this day in my head for over 2 years. The day where Neil Diamond himself would see this show.
“It sounds cliché, but I don't he the exact words to describe how it felt portraying a music icon as he sat and watched from an audience. But mostly I felt honoured and fulfilled.
“He's a great man, a great musician, and he's changed so many of our lives. I was able to tell him how much he's changed mine. Thank you for letting me share your songs and story across the country every night my friend.”
