AUSTRALIAN SALMON
There are many options depending on how you target Australian Salmon. You may cast 3 and 4-inch soft plastics, metal slugs or baits in surf, estuary and inshore waters by land, kayak or boat. I love catching Australian Salmon by casting 4-inch soft plastics like Berley Gulp Minnows. For this, a rod 7 feet in length paired with a 2500 or 3000-size reel is perfect. It’s lightweight and can easily cast soft plastics and lightly weighted metal jigs. This setup works great when fishing from the beach, pier, rock wall, kayak or boat. If you need to cast baits out in hey surf and keep your rod above the crashing wes, you will consider a longer rod with a stronger kg capacity. The same applies should you need extra casting distance for heier lures such as metal slugs over 30 grams.
