Gru’s nemesis in Despicable Me 4 is Maxime Le Mal, voiced by Will Ferrell, who has escaped from prison and is out to get revenge on the former supervillain for putting him in jail. Maxime is a former student of the villain school who developed a hatred for Gru after the latter stole his song at the 9th-grade talent show. He is joined by his girlfriend and crime-planning partner, Valentina, voiced by Sofía Vergara. Rounding out the new cast are Stephen Colbert as Perry Prescott and Chloe Fineman as Patsy Prescott, Gru’s new neighbors.
