Windows 11 and earlier versions of Windows operating systems do not display the battery percentage on the taskbar. We need to click or hover the mouse cursor over the battery icon on the taskbar to view the remaining battery percentage.
As you know, the battery percentage helps determine the battery鈥檚 remaining charge. Although it鈥檚 a small feature, it鈥檚 quite useful to monitor how fast your battery drains and use the device accordingly, especially when you are away from a power source.
While third-party tools are ailable to show battery percent on the Windows 11 taskbar, a built-in option is always preferred.
Fortunately, Microsoft is adding the battery percentage to the Windows 11 taskbar. Currently ailable in Insider builds, the taskbar will show the remaining battery charge in percentage right next to the battery icon on the taskbar.
In addition to the battery percentage, the battery icon has been updated to display more information about the battery status. The battery icon appears green while it鈥檚 being charged and shows up yellow when the battery is being used in energy ser mode. A red battery icon indicates that the battery is critically low.
If you are interested in the feature and would like to turn it on, here is how to do that.
Turn on battery percentage on Windows 11 taskbarStep 1: Open the Windows 11 Settings app using search or Windows logo + I hotkey.
Step 2: On the left pane, click System. Now, on the right side, click Power & Battery.
Step 3: On this page, turn on the Battery percentage option to display the battery percentage on the Windows 11 taskbar.
If the Battery percentage option is missing, it鈥檚 likely because your Windows 11 build does not support this feature yet.
