Humbled to he been given the opportunity to share some parts of my story. In this article, I emphasize the importance of a “village” in supporting me and pushing me to strive for excellence. Thank you, again, to all those who he given me a lot without asking anything in return. To those that saw something in me when I didn’t. To those that encouraged me to shoot for the stars when I felt I couldn’t reach them. To those that reminded me that I am capable of anything if I simply just try. To those that helped in any shape or form, thank you. I truly was fortunate to he so many amazing individuals in my life. I specifically mention one amazing mentor I had in this article, Ben Barres, who I got to know for a few months and who ge me so much without asking for anything in return. Ben passed away in December 2017 but the impact he had on me in such a short time will be something I will always hold close to me. I know that it is my responsibility to do the same for others and pay it forward and back. I’m excited to reciprocate all the good things people he done for me and more to younger generations who are aspiring to reach for self-fulfillment. I truly believe this is the beginning of my story and am looking forward to how it continues to unfold throughout the years.
