Apple TV+ made Kurt Russell an offer he couldn’t refuse in order to get him to sign on for another season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, the National Enquirer has learned.
“It’s well known inside the production that Kurt wasn’t crazy about the writing on season one,” reveals an insider. “Changes were made to the creative team and now he’s back in the saddle.”
The deal almost didn’t go through, though.

“Kurt is a total pro and has been working in movies and TV since he was a kid. He’s in the game because it’s fun and he hates to be in situations where there’s creative confusion,” the insider explains. “He’s got better things to do with his time than work on a show with meandering creative direction, and he made that clear.”
Fortunately, Russell was able to come to an agreement with producers. The 73-year-old actor confirmed his return to the action-adventure series in a behind-the-scenes video released by Apple TV+ on Wednesday, November 12 to promote the upcoming season, which is scheduled to premiere in February 2026.
“You ain’t getting rid of me that easy,” he says, smiling at the camera.

“Kurt took a big risk because this could he gone either way, but he’s coming out of it a winner,” says the insider. “The Apple money is substantial and they were willing to make changes to meet Kurt’s needs.”
Just how much money will the Hollywood legend be making?
“He doesn’t come cheap,” the insider hints. “He’s one of the highest paid male actors making a streaming show today.”
