Sylvia Brown
FARMERS VALLEY — Sylvia Lynette (Nichols) Brown, mother, grandma, GG, aunt, friend and life of the party, passed away at her home Saturday (March 15, 2025) with both of her children at her side.
Sylvia was the youngest of six children to Richard and V. Adelia Nichols. She was born Jan. 30, 1954.
She worked at Jaguar in Smethport until her employment at Boise (Graham Packaging), where her very outgoing, caring, strong, accepting and giving personality made her many lifelong friends.
On Sept. 17, 1977, she married John F. Brown. Together they had two children, Lottie Brown and John Brown Jr. She was then blessed with being a grandma to Jin Brown, Imagin (Brown) Keyser, Blake (Brown) Carpenter, Charlotte (Anthony) and Zachary Benjamin. Charlotte and Anthony later blessed her with the title of GG to Jezelle and Kayde. She took these two titles with immense pride. In 2016 she earned the title of No. 1 Lady Hubbers Soccer Fan as she did not miss a game. She was known to be the loudest fan in the stands at all her grandchildren's events.
Sylvia is survived by three brothers, Fred (Marylou) Nichols, Bruce (Carol) Nichols and Owen Nichols; a special sister-in-law, Katy Nichols; her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband, sister Madolyn Straight, brother Daniel Nichols and nephew Guy Nichols.
Sylvia never met someone who wasn’t a friend or family. She was a person who would help anyone no questions asked and her door/home was open to everyone and anyone.
Keeping with Sylvia’s wishes there will be no funeral services. At a later date there will be a party in true Sylvia fashion.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Or in true honor of Sylvia you can smile, hug or brighten someone else’s day by not judging others, and open your heart to those you may not even know. Everyone needs help or a pick-me-up at some point; we can all do that for others in her honor, as she did for so many.
