2025 Peach Forecast: A Promising Season Ahead!
We’re excited to share that the 2025 peach season in Fredericksburg is shaping up to be a fantastic one. Local growers are anticipating a strong crop, with the first juicy peaches expected to arrive in May.
Peach trees rely on "chill hours," which are temperatures at or below 45 degrees during the winter months, to set a healthy crop. While December brought milder weather, January delivered beautifully, helping us close out the dormant season with approximately 700 chill hours.
This level of chill is just what we need for a promising peach harvest. Now, we are keeping our fingers crossed for sunny skies ahead and hoping to oid any late freezes or spring storms.

Roadside markets and orchards around Fredericksburg and Stonewall offer more than 20 different varieties of delicious Gillespie County peaches. The sweet fruit can be found clustered along Highway 290 between Fredericksburg and Stonewall, and along Highway 87, south of Main Street in Fredericksburg. Many roadside stands also sell other fresh produce such as cantaloupes and tomatoes during the summer months as well as peach-centric products like jams, jellies, salsas, and cobblers.

Gillespie County's orchards he produced some of the nation's top peaches for generations with many operations being held in the same family for over 70 years.
