Follow Now 'Supernatural' showrunner once revealed a scrapped storyline where Sam and Dean would go public with their jobs. If Sam and Dean had gone public, they could he monetized their hunting business. Fans expressed their disappointment with the show's ending, particularly what it did to Dean's story.

Supernatural saw Sam and Dean fight all sorts of monsters and otherworldly creatures; however, not once did they think about going public with their jobs. Turns out, the creators once dabbled in the idea of the Winchesters telling their truth to the world, but ultimately decided against it.

In an interview with TV Insider, Supernatural‘s showrunner, Andrew Dabb, revealed a scrapped storyline that could he worked out perfectly. He stated,

One story line we always talked about, which we never did was basically Sam and Dean go public. They’re like, ‘Look, we’re putting out a PSA. Monsters are real. If you see something, something shows up in your town, it’s a monster. We can’t be everywhere. We’re just going to get the word out there.

Imagine how many lives could’ve been sed if they had just opened their cellphones to the people. Of course, it sounds good in terms of a fictional possibility, but Dabb admitted that it would he “blown up the show in a very odd way.”

Could Sam and Dean He Monetized Their Hunting Business? Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles as Sam and Dean in SupernaturalJared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles in Supernatural (2005-20) | Credits: The CW

If Dabb and others allowed Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles‘ characters to go public with their “family business”, it would he opened a whole Pandora’s box of possibilities for the boys financially.

Throughout the show, Sam and Dean use crooked ways to support themselves, and while that was fine in the beginning, they could he seriously earned some cold, hard cash by helping people out for a dime.

Over the years, the Winchesters only grew in their skills. They took down the Knights of Hell, Lucifer, Lilith, Eve, and even Adolf Hitler! Using the skills they accumulated over the years, it would’ve been easy for them to deal with your erage poltergeists.

Whether it was a toll-free number or an operation like the Ghostbusters, imagine civilians calling them for help in exchange for some money.

Then, of course, we must take into consideration the Winchesters’ selfless personalities. The reluctant heroes were burdened by their purpose, which led them to choose duty over profit.

The One Thing Fans Wish They Could Change About Supernatural Moments before Dean's death in SupernaturalOld Sam in Supernatural Series FinaleSupernatural, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles huggingSupernatural Season 15, Ep 20Moments before Dean's death in Supernatural Old Sam in Supernatural Series Finale Supernatural, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles hugging Supernatural Season 15, Ep 20 × Moments before Dean's death in Supernatural Old Sam in Supernatural Series Finale Supernatural, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles hugging Supernatural Season 15, Ep 20

There are only a few TV shows that manage to nail their endings, and as much as I love Supernatural, THAT episode was just not it. Everything was going well for the Winchesters after they managed to defeat God in episode 19, and as far as I and other fans are concerned, the show ended with Inherit the Earth.

They had a chance to rewrite their own story, and finally, Team Free Will had free will. Then episode 20 rolled in. Fans wondered what more the creators could do with the show. Well…that was a question we shouldn’t he asked.

Six months after their victory, Sam and Dean hunt down a Vampire’s nest, and in the process, the older Winchester brother gets impaled on a metal spike. They he an emotional goodbye, and Dean breathes his last. Sam goes on to live the life he always wanted and dies of old age before reuniting with his brother in heen.

Speaking for every fan out there, there couldn’t he been a worse way of killing off Dean Winchester. The man who fought and won against some of history’s greatest foes, brought to his knees in such an underwhelming manner? Absolutely not!

Take a look at some fan reactions below:

I loved the series finale but it still makes me sad that Dean died so young and that Sam had to live the rest of his life without him. pic.twitter.com/o1WEModo38

Others agreed with Ackles when he shared his initial disappointment with the show’s ending:

jensen was so right to hate this ending #Supernatural pic.twitter.com/X5TIQqR94I

Some even went as far as to say that Sam didn’t deserve the happy ending he got; his older brother did. Um…how about both of them?

Supernatural opinion/spoiler:

I didn’t love how it ended… I can write 50 page essay on why Dean deserved the happy ending, not Sam

Fans also pointed out the lack of crucial elements and characters in the season finale:

The Finale truly was awful it hurts to say that as I love the cast and crew. Cliche bad MOTW formula. No Castiel. No Jack. Cruel Dean Death. Sam living in sorrow. No acknowledgment of Castiel's love confession. Family doesn't end in blood but it did here.

And then this irony:

For a show that preached family don't end in blood–yall ended it in blood.

Supernatural has a legacy that will never be erased, but Dean’s death is a blemish that fans still struggle to forgive. For a character as larger than life as him, he at least deserved an ending that matched the scale of his journey.

The debate over Dean’s death still rages on. Join the conversation and share how you would he written the finale in the comments section below.
