The second window was not lacking of big plays and close games as several ranked teams were brought down to the wire while others showed why they are at the top of college football:
No. 2 Indiana 55, Maryland 10
No. 2 Indiana showed no signs of slowing down Saturday, steamrolling Maryland 55-10 behind a dominant ground game and another efficient outing from Heisman contender Fernando Mendoza. The Hoosiers piled up more than 300 rushing yards, with Kaelon Black leading the way with 110, and controlled the line of scrimmage from start to finish. Mendoza accounted for two touchdowns before giving way to his younger brother, Alberto, who added one of his own in relief.
Indiana’s defense smothered the Terrapins, forcing three turnovers and limiting Maryland’s run game to single digits for most of the afternoon. Freshman quarterback Malik Washington had some flashes with a long touchdown pass but struggled against the relentless Hoosier pressure, tossing two interceptions and losing a fumble that led to a defensive score. With the win, Indiana improves to 9-0 and continues its march toward the Big Ten title game and potential College Football Playoff berth.

— Big Ten Network (@BigTenNetwork) November 1, 2025No. 16 Louisville 28, Virginia Tech 16
No. 16 Louisville rallied from a sluggish first half to defeat Virginia Tech 28-16 in Blacksburg on Saturday, powered by a dominant rushing attack and a stingy second-half defense. Isaac Brown ran for 130 yards and a touchdown before exiting late with a leg injury, while Keyjuan Brown took over in the fourth quarter, adding two scores to seal the Cardinals’ third straight win.
Quarterback Miller Moss sparked the comeback with a 24-yard touchdown pass to Caullin Lacy early in the third quarter, and Lacy’s 65-yard punt return set up Louisville’s go-ahead score. The Cardinals outscored the Hokies 21-0 after halftime, keeping their ACC title hopes alive while rushing for 235 yards overall.
Virginia Tech led 16-7 at the break behind quarterback Kyron Drones, who tallied both a rushing and passing touchdown. But the Hokies managed fewer than 100 yards in the second half, unable to sustain drives against Louisville’s surging defense.

No. 5 Georgia extended its dominance over rival Florida with a hard-fought 24-20 win in Jacksonville on Saturday, securing its fifth straight victory in the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.” Gunner Stockton threw two touchdown passes, including one to Dillon Bell on the game’s opening drive, while freshman running back Chauncey Bowens sealed the win with a 36-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs overcame early mistakes, including an interception and multiple penalties, but their defense stood tall in key moments—stopping Florida on a crucial fourth-and-inches in the red zone and forcing a late turnover on downs.
Florida, playing its first game under interim coach Billy Gonzalez following Billy Napier’s dismissal, led 16-10 at halftime behind quarterback DJ Lagway, who connected with Eugene Wilson III for an early touchdown. But the Gators’ offense sputtered late as Georgia’s depth and composure proved decisive.

— Georgia Football (@GeorgiaFootball) November 1, 2025No. 15 Virginia 31, Cal 21
No. 15 Virginia held off a late Cal rally to secure a 31-21 victory Saturday, earning its eighth win of the season behind a strong rushing attack and a timely defense.
Running backs J’Mari Taylor and Eli Wood combined for three touchdowns, powering a Caliers offense that controlled the clock early and built a 17-7 halftime lead. Taylor opened the scoring with a 25-yard touchdown run on Virginia’s first drive and added another from five yards out in the second quarter. Raphael rushed for two scores, including a 2-yard direct-snap touchdown in the first half.
Cal rallied behind Raphael’s second touchdown midway through the fourth quarter but lost starting quarterback Jaron Keawe-Sagapolutele to injury soon after. Virginia’s defense forced multiple punts down the stretch and sealed the win with a pick 6 late in the fourth quarter.
