Standard Practice for everyone.......nothing to see here.....
It's the automatic charging they were complaining about, not the raise in premiums invoiced to them.

Actually, he you considered another scenario? Perhaps, when you sign up with a new insurer (any insurer for that matter), your premium is lower because it is being discounted as an incentive to join. What happens next year is that the premium returns to normal, undiscounted rate.
Again as above, it was the automatic billing they did at a higher rate the OP was talking about. But in saying that, you're rightTheres been threads about this for other insurers. That's the main point, they offer discounts to switch, then up it to regular prices. Solution: Get a new quote every year online rather than renew, including your current insurer, and if they wont honour it because you are an existing customer, change companies if you he to.
Insurance shenanigans, I don't he a clue why they want to rip off existing customers that hen't make a claim, but offer cheaper insurance to new customers with unproven history (sure they ask background questions, but they don't know if that driver will make a claim that year with them, but people that he been with them for a year and not made a claim get charged more for a renewal!?)It's a flapping game to them and obviously they don't really care about loyalty or safe driver records, so give them the finger and move on to the next insurer that seems OK and has a cheaper quote for new sign ups. Let them reap what they sow, continual new policies with no loyalty.
edit; Ha Ha, insurance musical chairs or hot potato, it's only them losing in the end by not hing a safe income from drivers who hen't ever made a claim...
