“Ha! Another find for me. I stopped at the little Ukrainian market to buy some herbal tea (don’t we all?), and I realized they he a little restaurant on the side. This shop is in a drive-by, you’ll-never-stop-here strip mall just north of 130th on Aurora Avenue. The dining room looks like an after thought but in the process of being decorated, so I got to give them credit.
The food is scrumptious and cheap for today’s prices. My cabbage rolls were $10.99 and ample portion. The mushroom soup was delicious and rye bread was excellent. I drank Kvas which is a chilled fermented drink from rye bread. Try it! It won’t hurt you to try something new.
My dessert was Syrnyky - a quark pancake with sour cream and strawberry preserves. The portion was generous, so I could only eat one. Leftovers work for me.
While dining here (and oiding commuter traffic) I noticed two other people eating here. I believe a father/son duo who came down from Edmonds. I chatted with them, and agreed it’s a hidden gem.
Note: this place is no frills but there’s a charm to that when you want what would equate to a home cooked meal while dining out.”
