First, I don’t understand what you’re saying. Edge does not need a license. So do you mean Windows? You can only synch if you’re using the same Microsoft account on both (all devices). You can export your Edge forites and settings to any browser including Chrome. If you he an activation error, and you’re sure your Windows license is good, you can call Microsoft and explain and they’ll help you activate a valid license. It sounds to me like you tried to use the same license on 2 computers – and that’s not allowed. Nor sure what you mean by “personalizing” Edge. Other than your startup pages, search engine choice, extensions. forites, and themes there’s not much personalizing you can do. And if you he your bookmarks (Forites) backed up or exported to another browser – replacing them only takes a few seconds. Extensions, search engine choice, start-up pages, etc. can be set in less than 5 minutes. Emsisoft (McAfee) has nothing to do with any of this.
I don’t understand how you got an update notice in your start menu for Edge…and finally doing a system restore won’t fix your problem if it has to do with Windows (which I’m guessing it does).
Finally, you’re not locked into using Edge. If you he so much trouble with it, you can easily switch to Firefox, Chrome, or any of the other popular browsers.
So, unless you can clarify what you’re talking about a browser (Edge) or the operating system (Windows 10 or Windows 11) I really can’t help you much.
